Tips & Tricks
To start, take the screwdriver and slide it between the two door latches on the side of the lock. Depending on how strong the lock is, it can take a few minutes or only a few seconds to pop open the door. To get this, keep pulling back on the latches with the screwdriver. Most common door locks will work with this.
Every locksmith needs a trip wire, a curved tool, for every job. It is mostly used to unfreeze tumblers (the pins inside a door lock line up perfectly with the key made to open it).
A burglar only needs to use special tools for aligning the pins until it is possible to turn the lock and open the lock in order to pick a pin and tumbler lock. All of the pins are aligned using the pick, which is a long, thin piece of metal, and a tension wrench.
A lock can be picked anywhere between 7 seconds to 45 minutes. Usually, it takes a locksmith around 10 minutes to unlock most doors. Of course, the type of lock has an impact on this.
